Planned Giving

At Friendship Place, our mission is to empower individuals and families experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives. Through our innovative, customized, person-focused programs, we help our participants find homes, get jobs, and reconnect with friends, family, and the community, permanently.

Our work is made possible by the generous support of our donors, some of whom choose to support Friendship Place through planned giving. For many, planned gifts are a way to leave a lasting legacy that reflects the values you uphold today.

We know providing for loved ones is a priority when you prepare or revise your will. Remember that you can leave any amount or any percentage to Friendship Place. Friendship Place is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. As such, bequests to Friendship Place can reduce the future tax liability for your estate.

Retirement Plans & Life Insurance Policies

You can name Friendship Place as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan (IRA, Sep IRA, Keogh, 401k, or 403b). Simply request a “change of beneficiary” form from your plan’s administrator. Naming Friendship Place as a beneficiary may reduce future income tax and estate tax liability.

If you have a life insurance policy that you no longer need, you can make Friendship Place the owner and beneficiary of your policy. If so, you may be eligible for a tax deduction for the year you make the gift.

Gifts of Stock

You can donate stock to Friendship Place by transferring them directly from your account to ours. We are happy to provide your broker with any information she or he may need to complete the transfer. In addition to being eligible for an income tax deduction for the gift, you may also avoid additional capital gains taxes if the stock has gone up in value since you purchased it.

Charitable trusts offer a way to support Friendship Place, while still providing income for you, your family, and your heirs. You will want to consult with an attorney if you are interested in this option. Depending on the type of trust, you may be entitled to an immediate tax deduction or a reduction in estate tax liability.
