Community Engagement & Education

Friendship Place is happy to educate you and engage your school, congregation, workplace, or other groups about what you can do to ensure that everyone has a place to call “home.”

We have programs available for all ages. Here are a few of the options:

  • Invite a member of our Speakers’ Bureau to speak to your group and share their lived experience of homelessness.
  • Host an information table at your event.
  • Attend our Open Doors Information Sessions (45-minute introductory conversations). View all upcoming sessions here.

Speakers’ Bureau

The mission of our Speakers’ Bureau is to attach a human face to the word “homeless.” Most people know that word, but not what the word truly means. Most people equate homelessness with what they see on a city street, not knowing that they will never see most of the people who are experiencing homelessness or know the reasons behind their homelessness.

As speakers, we are able to inform and teach people about the realities of being “homeless.” By telling our stories, we can show that people who are experiencing homelessness come from all walks of life.

Have one of our speakers shed light on a subject that has been pushed into the shadows for far too long. Invite us to speak at any group gathering by filling out this short form.
