The Aston Bridge Housing Facility
Friendship Place announced the opening of The Aston Non-Congregate Bridge Housing (NCBH) facility in partnership with Mayor Bowser and DC government agencies on November 26, 2024. Located in the heart of Ward 2 at 1129 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, The Aston provides a safe, dignified, short-term housing solution for individuals and adult families as they work toward permanent housing.
The Mayor and the Department of Human Services (DHS) selected Friendship Place to operate The Aston in recognition of our distinguished track record in offering wrap-around services to the city’s most vulnerable residents.
In 2024, Friendship Place served over 5,000 people facing or experiencing homelessness, including providing employment services.
Friendship Place will offer residents at the facility 24/7 case management, access to mental and health services, and connections to other critical resources. Our staff is committed to helping all participants develop individualized housing plans, empowering people to reach their long-term housing goals quickly and effectively. Case Managers at The Aston are providing unique opportunities in a service-enriched environment, allowing people to rebuild. People served at the facility include:
- Residents who cannot be effectively served in low-barrier shelters, including individuals transitioning from hospitals and encampments who would benefit from a supportive environment.
- Families with adult children, couples, and other household configurations that need stable short-term arrangements.
- Individuals and families matched with a permanent housing resource through the District’s Continuum of Care who are awaiting lease finalization.
The Aston serves as a testament to the power of community partnerships and the commitment to ending homelessness in Washington, DC.
