Five Local Philanthropists to Receive Benjamin E. Cooper Award
Five local philanthropists have been selected as honorees at the 15th Annual Benjamin E. Cooper Awards. This annual event recognizes outstanding leaders making a lasting impact in our community through their work to end homelessness. Community members and press are invited to attend.
At the time of his tragic death at the age of 17, in 1997, Ben Cooper was a committed and enthusiastic volunteer at Friendship Place. His encouragement of those coming through the doors for help inspired both staff and other volunteers. Friendship Place is honored to give this annual award in Ben’s memory, with special thanks to his parents, Judith Areen and Richard Cooper, for their faithful support of the event throughout its 15-year history.
