In Remembrance of Joyce Washington
Dear Friendship Place Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of a truly remarkable soul, our dear friend and dedicated staff member, Joyce Washington. As we mourn her untimely passing, we also celebrate a life that touched so many with warmth, kindness, and unwavering friendship.
Joyce began her journey with Friendship Place in 2010, as a Case Manager at the Welcome Center. Her dedication and commitment to our mission quickly became evident, and as we expanded our services to include La Casa, Joyce helped coordinate operations, overseeing both the facility and our dedicated advocates. Her exemplary service and leadership did not go unnoticed, and she subsequently took on the position of Assistant Director, a role she filled with distinction for several years. Recognizing her exceptional contributions, she was later promoted to the esteemed position of Division Director, where she continued to exemplify the values and dedication that define Friendship Place.
Her unwavering dedication to our mission was surpassed only by her boundless compassion for the individuals we serve. She was affectionately called “Ms. Joyce” at La Casa and her friendship was a treasure that enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her commitment to making the world a better place was contagious, and her legacy will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
Let us remember Joyce with gratitude for the moments of joy, love, and friendship she shared with all of us. We loved her and will miss her dearly.
Our thoughts are with Joyce’s family during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Jean-Michel Giraud
