Amazon volunteers at La Casa!

by Chris Cannedy

Seven Amazon employees from Forestville and Upper Marlboro, MD volunteered their time, served a delicious Moe’s Mexican & Tex Mex meal, and arrived with an assortment of much-needed pantry and personal care items for La Casa residents (La Casa is a 40-unit Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) building for previously chronically homeless males located in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC).

Their donations included mouthwash, deodorant, beans and rice, ramen noodles, instant oatmeal, canned tuna, and more. Every item was purchased and provided by Amazon.

We are so grateful for this generous team and the energy, kindness, and care they brought with them today. It was a wonderful example of what community support can look like in action, and a meaningful way to make residents feel welcomed, supported, and remembered.
